Aye Ms. Maddow does have great bones. But you pose an interesting question. I think the difference in the time periods is key. Ms. Maddow, for good or ill, would not have had a place in Mr. Cronkite's time. Older white guys ruled. We had Walter, and for good measure we had Murrow, Huntley, Brinkley, Severeid and others. While a complicated age, as ALL ages are, it was a simpler age with regards to news dissemination. Newspapers still dominated and news bureaus had dedicated reporters to the State Department, Department of Defense, Supreme Court, et. al., not just "Washington".

Walter would have stood tall today or any day, but I'm sure he would have found the effort today a lot more... bruising.

How about this for a postulation?: Rachel Maddow: Rhodes Scholar, Gay, Female, IS the Walter Cronkite of this day.

Hmm.

But back to great bones. That whole clean-cut, gay, got-more-brains-in-my-toenail-clippings-than-Sarah-Palin-has-in-her-whole-head look IS pretty smokin'.

Ms. Maddow has great bones but say Rachel Maddow and then say Walter Cronkite. Which one would you tune in for?
Can you also compare the two time periods? I grew up in Walters I'm not sure I would want to grow up in Rachels.
